Can't Keep Hot Dishes In The Refrigerator? Dietitian Exposes 3 Myths

Eating is great. Diet not only maintains and makes life better, but is also one of the keys to maintaining good health. However, there are many plausible and false myths about diet. Let us decipher together!

Some people think that hot food should not be put in the refrigerator directly, and the food may spoil. In fact, when hot dishes are cooled at room temperature and then stored in ice, bacteria will breed during the cooling process, which will accelerate the food's rancidity! Although heating the food can kill some bacteria, it cannot destroy the toxins left by the bacteria; if the contaminated food is eaten again, a series of uncomfortable symptoms may occur, such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever and so on.

In fact, the purpose of placing hot dishes directly in the refrigerator is to allow the food to quickly pass through 7°C to 60°C, also known as the "dangerous temperature zone" where bacteria grow and multiply rapidly. If you are worried that refrigerating hot dishes will increase the operating burden of the refrigerator, it is recommended to put the food at 60°C before refrigerating; if it will not be eaten for more than 2 days, it must be placed in a freezer to extend the shelf life of the food.

Multigrain bread contains many grains and nuts. Compared with white toast, it contains more dietary fiber and rich nutrients. Many people think that delicious and solid multigrain bread looks healthy and low in calories, and is suitable for weight loss. In fact, some manufacturers add more fat and sugar to increase the softness of the bread and prevent it from being too hard.

Furthermore, multigrain bread is filled with nuts, dried fruit or cheese. Although it has more nutrients than ordinary toast, the total calories are more than one.As high as bread! Eating too much can easily lead to an increase in blood sugar, and those who need to control blood sugar should pay more attention to the amount of food they eat.

Some people believe that natural sugars such as honey, sucrose and brown sugar are healthier than processed sugars. In fact, these sugars do not contain many micronutrients relative to ordinary foods, and most of them are still "sugar". While honey provides the sugar and aroma that makes people feel good, it also stimulates the brain to want more sugar, increasing the risk of conditions such as tooth decay, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.

According to the "National Dietary Indicators", the daily dietary intake of added sugars should not exceed 10% of the total calories, but does not contain sugars that are naturally present in food, such as milk and fruit. The so-called added sugar refers to the additional sugar added in the manufacture or preparation of food and beverages, including brown sugar, sucrose, icing sugar, granulated sugar, white sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc.
