The Vegetable With The Most Pesticide Residues Is "it"! Experts Teach You 4 Steps To Detoxify

The Consumer Foundation Association announced that the vegetables with the most pesticide residues, pea pods and sweet pea pods have the most serious pesticide residues. According to the latest sampling test results, all 36 pea pods and sweet pods have pesticide residues detected.

In October 2020, the Consumer Foundation will visit traditional morning markets, evening markets, and mass merchandisers in six cities including Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. From sales channels such as supermarkets, I purchased 18 pieces of corn, 18 pieces of cabbage, 18 pieces of pea pods and 18 pieces of sweet pea pods, a total of 72 pieces of vegetables.

The survey found that 3 out of 18 pieces of corn were detected with pesticide residues, of which 2 pieces did not meet the regulations, and the qualified ratio was 88.9%; 10 pieces of 18 pieces of cabbage were detected with pesticide residues, of which 1 piece did not meet the regulations. , the qualified ratio is 94.4%;

In addition, 18 pea pods were found to have pesticide residues, and the residues ranged from 3 to 23 species. Among them, only 1 complied with the limited regulations, 17 did not meet the regulations, and the qualified ratio was only 5.6%; 18 sweet pea pods were also inspected. Pesticide residues were found, with 4 to 20 types of residues, all of which did not meet the limit regulations, and the qualified ratio was 0%.

Ling Yongjian, chief inspector of the Consumer Foundation Association and professor of the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University, pointed out that the situation of pesticide residues in pea pods and sweet bean pods is very serious. It may be that farmers harvested early before the safe harvest period, resulting in pesticide residues. Farmers should pay attention to the safe harvest period and allow enough time for pesticides to dissipate to reduce the risk of pesticide residues.

"Pea pods and sweet pea pods are vegetables with a higher risk of pesticide residues." Ling Yongjian suggested that the public should choose vegetables and fruits that are abundant in season and are not continuously harvested, and provide 4 steps to reduce the risk of pesticide residues:
