A video circulated on social platforms and messaging software, with the subtitles stating: "Australian research shows that banana components can effectively destroy the organization of the new coronavirus." The video is accompanied by a text message that declares: "No wonder so few Taiwanese are infected with the new crown virus. Now I finally found the reason... Bananas! As soon as the news comes out, the price of bananas should go up."
Taiwan's Fact-Checking Center verified that some of the footage from the online video came from a report by Australian public media "ABC News" on January 23, 2020 "Australian researchers invest in the race to create a new coronavirus vaccine", and the "Wall Street Journal" 2020 A report on February 13, 2019, "How Scientists Develop a New Coronavirus Vaccine".
